What Are We Using for Curriculum This Year?

Zach ~ graduated from home schooling in 2008, obtained his AA in 2010 and his dual bachelors in 2012.

Austin ~ graduated from home schooling in 2014, working on his AA to graduate in 2015

LOGAN ~ {2014-2015 - homeschool highschool freshman}
Our approach with Logan, a highschool freshman, will be an eclectic approach utilizing
several types of curriculum to accomplish our education plan for him.  For Bible, he will
be using a computer based curriculum as he works through portions of the New
Testament.  Math will be taught through video lecture, followed-up with textbook
assignments.  Science will be taught through an online class utilizing a textbook
curriculum, as well as attending a two-day lab intensive in the spring to complete a
year's worth of science labs in two days.  English will utilizing video instruction with
completion of textbook lessons.  I plan to register with Crossroads Christian School to
handle maintaining his records this year and transcripts.

ALYSSA ~ {2014-2015 - homeschool middle school freshman}
With Alyssa this year, Reading, Penmanship, History and Geography will be taught
utilizing a unit study approach through lapbooking.  Bible, Math and Science will
follow more of a textbook method.  Music studies will continue to be a daily activity
through weekly private instruction, bi-weekly participation in the youth orchestra
and daily practice at home.  Field trips, co-op classes, kids' workshops, and other
hands-on learning experiences will be included into her education plan
throughout the year.

GRAHAM ~ {2014-2015 - homeschool elementary grade 2/3}
Graham and Kailynn will be paired together again to complete the ABeka DVD homeschool
curriculum. All subjects {with the exception of Spelling/Poetry and the extra numbers/phonics
writing will be completed}.  Field trips, co-op classes, kids' workshops, lapbooking and
other hands-on learning experiences will be incorporated throughout the school year.

KAILYNN ~ {2014-2015 - homeschool elementary grade 2}
Kailynn and Graham will be paired together again to complete the ABeka DVD homeschool
curriculum. All subjects {with the exception of Spelling/Poetry and the extra numbers/phonics
writing will be completed}.  Field trips, co-op classes, kids' workshops, lapbooking and
other hands-on learning experiences will be incorporated throughout the school year.

ELIZABETH ~ {2014-2015 - homeschool kindergarten/pre-K}
This year we are planning to give the K4 program a try with Elizabeth; the girl who
needs some constructive channeling.  ;)  The program appears very similar to the K5
ABeka DVD curriculum, so my thought process is at best it will give her a jump
with reading and basic math, not to mention the blessing of Scripture memorization.
ABeka does a great job in keeping things moving, engaging with lots of illustrations,
games and singing.  Concepts are learned through repetition and my hope is she will
have two-three hours of constructive learning time each day while her siblings are
working on their assignments.  The rest of her day will be filled with hands-on
learning through games, imaginative playtime, and motor skill activities.

CAROLYNE ~ She will participate with Elizabeth for Bible and Activity times on ABeka DVD K4 curriculum., memory work and hands-on learning.  The rest of her day will be spent learning through hands-on activities, games, puzzles, coloring and other motor skill activities.  She will also spend time listening to re-alouds, physical outside playtimes and imaginative playtime {dollhouse, baby dolls, dishes, etc.}.
